Valerie Arioto Signs Letter of Intent to Attend Cal

BERKELEY - Valerie Arioto, a two-time all-state pitcher at Pleasanton's Foothill High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at California, Golden Bear head coach Diane Ninemire announced Wednesday.
The 2006 Most Valuable Player for the East Bay Athletic League, Arioto completed her junior season at Foothill High last spring with a 19-3 record and 0.16 ERA, with 254 strikeouts in 145 innings. She also batted .444 with six home runs and 14 RBI.
As a sophomore in 2005, Arioto compiled a 0.36 ERA, while hitting .494 with three home runs.
Arioto has led Foothill High to a pair of conference titles during her career, one in 2004 and another last season. She was a first-team all-state choice by CalHiSports.com as a sophomore and second-team selection as a junior.
