Irene Cho Earns LPGA Tour Card
Dec. 12, 2006
Three-time Trojan All-American Irene Cho, whose 2005-2006 senior season at USC was perhaps the best in school history, navigated the rigorous 90-hole LPGA Tour Final Qualifying Tournament to earn an LPGA Tour card on Dec. 2 on her first try.
Cho, who tied for 10th in the five-day event, was one of 15 players who earned exempt status for the entire 2007 tour, while 41 others earned non-exempt status. There were 137 golfers at the start of the tournament, and 75 competing in the final round.
'I did not expect anything out of this,' Cho said. 'I just wanted to possibly get my conditional status. This is my biggest surprise and happiest surprise.'
Cho finished with a five-round 358 (68-72-72-73-73, -2).
Former Trojan Becky Lucidi finished 36th and received non-exempt status.
