Hicks Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Washington senior guard Cameo Hicks has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 11-17, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Hicks helped the Huskies extend their winning streak to four last week, leading UW to victories over cross-state rival Gonzaga (75-61) and an upset over No. 23 Florida State (84-65). In the two games, Hicks averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 block and 4.0 steals.
Against the Bulldogs, Hicks netted a team-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting (58.3 percent) while corralling four rebounds, four steals an assist and two blocks. Hicks did herself one better against the Seminoles, scoring 18 points to go along with nine rebounds, six assists, and four more steals while shooting 7-of-15 (46.7 percent).
Hicks, who was named a preseason candidate for the Naismith Trophy last week, has been Washington's leading scorer the last six games and has tallied 10 double-figure scoring games in 11 contests. She is currently fourth in the Pac-10 with 18.2 points per game.
The Huskies (7-4) begin Conference play at the Oregon schools this week.
This is the second Player of the Week award for Hicks this season and the third of her career. It is the 26th all-time for Washington.
