Oregon State Claims 84-67 Victory Against Howard

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Sasa Cuic had 18 points and five rebounds to lead Oregon State to an 84-67 win over Howard on Tuesday.
Josh Tarver, the freshman guard from Portland, added 16 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Beavers (7-5). Darek Mitchell had 15 points for Howard (5-6). Mitchell, who scored all of his points in the second half, made four 3-pointers in the final 5:27, when the game was out of reach.
Oregon State, which never trailed, scored 10 of the first 14 points of the second half to take a 53-36 lead. An 11-0 run, capped by consecutive baskets from Roeland Schaftenaar, provided the Beavers with their biggest lead of the night, 81-56 with 3:35 left.
Marcel Jones and Michael Johnson had 11 points apiece for Oregon State, which led by as many as 14 points in the opening half before settling for a 43-32 lead at the break.
The Beavers forced 25 turnovers, outrebounded the Bison 33-26 and shot a season-high 56.1 percent from the floor. Howard had 16 points off Oregon State turnovers in the first 20 minutes, but none in the last 20.
Darryl Hudson had 12 points for Howard and Eugene Myatt added 10. The pair entered the night averaging a combined 36 points per game. Hudson has scored in double figures in all 11 games this season.
