The team is in L.A. right now; we're between games so it's been all about practice and video today. In the first video session of the day we took a look at last night's game against USC, in the second we focused on UCLA and what our game plan will be for tomorrow's game. Let's hope it works out as well as the coaches have written up!
Last night went well, as the score notes, but we're always looking for things to improve on (ahem...free throw shooting). For all of you who could not make the trip I'll have to tell you about one of the most exciting and entertaining things that happened during our game last night.
We were on a bit of a fast break, Jillian was running in the right lane and JJ made a pass up court. Just before the ball got to Jillian, USC's Eshay Murphy tipped the ball out of bounds but was unable to stop her momentum and went crashing straight into coach (yep, Coach VanDerveer)! Tara flew backwards and during her fall, she knocked over the huge multi-gallon Gatorade cooler that was filled with ice water. Water went splashing all over. I heard a few fans in the front rows got wet. It was hilarious! Quite a story, and the talk of the team for most of the night and next morning.
After tomorrow's game we all get to go home for the holidays. I head from L.A. to Boise and am really excited to see the family for a couple of days. We all report back on the 26th, practice that evening then get ready to play the Arizona schools. Now that Pac-10 play has started, it's all about to get really interesting!
I hope all of you have a great holiday and that you enjoy it as much as I will! We're looking forward to defending our Pac-10 regular season championship! Wish us luck!
