Josh Barrett Named To ESPN's All-Mayday Team

Jan. 2, 2007

TEMPE, Ariz. -

ArizonaStateUniversity's junior safety Josh Barrett has been named to ESPN's 2006 All-Mayday Team, ESPN announced.

In the Sun Devil's appearance in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, Barrett battled through cramps and led ASU in tackles and intercepted Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan once.  On the season, Barrett led ASU with 82 total tackles and three interceptions as a starter in all 13 games.  The Reno, Nev., native also earned Honorable Mention All-Pacific-10 Conference honors and was named the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year.

Barrett is regarded as one of the finest athletes on the Sun Devil roster, and has battled nagging injuries earlier in his career to become a full-time starter and defensive leader for ASU and one of the most versatile and talented defensive backs in the Pacific-10 Conference.

Labeled as a collection of the toughest of the tough in college football as selected by College Football Hall of Fame member Mark May of ESPN, Barrett follows teammate Andrew Carnahan, who was named to the 2005 All-Mayday Team at offensive tackle.
