Prugh Named To U.S. Walker Cup Practice Squad

SEATTLE -- Washington senior men's golfer Alex Prugh is one of 24 players invited by the USGA to participate in a three-day Walker Cup practice session, Jan. 3-5, 2007, at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Fla.

Of the 24 players invited to the practice session, 12 will actually be selected to compete in the 2007 Walker Cup to be played Sept. 8-9 at Royal County Down Golf Club in Ireland.

The group of invitees includes 16 collegiate players, five mid-amateurs and three high school seniors. The players will be divided into two squads for the practice session, playing 36 holes each the first two days and 18 the last day.

Prugh is a 2004 honorable mention All-American and a two-time All-Pac-10 selection for the Huskies, who will begin their spring season at the Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Hilo, Hawaii, Feb. 7-9.
