TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES

ARIZONA (0-3, 6-9)
Arizona faced a tough road test in the Bay Area last week, dropping an 86-58 contest to 14/15 Stanford on Thursday, followed by a 65-48 loss to 18/19 California two days later ... The Wildcats drop to 6-9 overall, 0-3 in the Pac-10, handing UA its first 0-3 start to the Conference season since 1992-93 ... JR G Ashley Whisonant had a solid week as she led the team in scoring in both games, putting up 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while adding five rebounds, two assists and one steal in the game versus the Cardinal ... Against the Bears, Whisonant had 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor ... Arizona forced California into 25 turnovers as nine of 10 players recorded one steal apiece ... Against the Cardinal, JR C Suzy Bofia came off the bench to score 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting for the Wildcats ... Bofia added four rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes of play ... Next up for Arizona is a home series in which it will face Washington on Thurs., Jan. 4 and Washington State on Sat., Jan. 6.

ARIZONA STATE (2-1, 12-2)
Arizona State split its Bay Area series last weekend, picking up a 74-58 win over 18/19 California on Thursday, but could not hang on in a tough 77-71 loss to 14/15 Stanford on Saturday ... The Sun Devils are 2-1 in Conference play, good enough for sole possession of third place, and 12-2 overall ... The Sun Devils had their winning streaks (eight straight overall, 11 consecutive Pac-10 games and seven straight road games) end at the hands of the Cardinal, as SO C Kirsten Thompson led ASU with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor in just 19 minutes ... SR G Jill Noe chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and three assists in the loss ... The team returns home this week for a pair of games, including a Thurs., Jan. 4 contest with Washington State and a Sun., Jan. 7 game with Washington ... The 12:30 tip-off with the Huskies will be aired live on FSN ... Both opponents will have their hands full as Arizona State is a hard team to beat at home, having won 29 of its last 30 regular season home games, including its last 17 Pac-10 home games, going back to the 2004-05 season ... The Sun Devils are 47-3 at home since the 2003-04 season.

CALIFORNIA (2-2, 11-3)
California collected its second consecutive Conference split on the season, notching a 65-48 win over Arizona on Saturday, having succumb to 10/11 Arizona State, 74-58, on Thursday ... Cal also faced Rhode Island on Tuesday in non-conference action, picking up a 65-53 win ... The Bears are 11-3 overall and 2-2 in Pac-10 action ... Cal has now won three of four games from the Wildcats after losing 19 straight to them, dating back to the 1995-96 season ... With SO G Alexis Gray-Lawson out for the remainder of the season, SR G Keanna Levy is seeing her playing time increase and made the best of it last week with a solid two-game outing ... Levy led Cal to the victory over Arizona by posting a career-high 17 points and matching her career high of eight rebounds ... She sank all four of her three-pointers, including one each during a 16-0 first-half run and a 10-0 second-half spurt, while beginning the game with just eight 3-pointers this season and 16 for her career ... Levy is arguably the most improved player in the Pac-10, as she is averaging career bests of 8.3 ppg and 4.2 rpg in 29.8 mpg, while she began the season with career averages of 1.9 ppg and 1.2 rpg in 8.3 minutes per contest ... The team will face traditional rival Stanford on Sat., Jan. 6 at Haas Pavilion ... Cal has not defeated the Cardinal since 2001, and has not earned a home win over Stanford since 1993.

OREGON (1-1, 9-3)
Oregon picked up its eighth non-conference win of the season in a 70-61 win over a solid BYU team at home on Saturday night to improve to 9-3 overall, while remaining 1-1 in Pac-10 play ... The Ducks were outrebounded (37-29) and held without a field goal for the final four minutes and 11 seconds of the game, but still hung on for the win behind SR F Eleanor Haring's 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting ... The win marked Oregon's 300th home women's victory in the history of McArthur Court, as a season-high 3,100 fans attended the game ... The Ducks faced a non-conference opponent (regular season) after the start of Pac-10 play for the second straight year and fourth time in history ... SR G Cicely Oaks hit all six of her free throw attempts, while totaling 12 points and a career-high six assists on the evening ... SR F Jessie Shetters grabbed 13 rebounds, her seventh career double figure rebounding game, all coming this season ... UO returns to Pac-10 play this week, hitting the road to take on USC on Fri., Jan. 5 and UCLA on Sun., Jan. 7

OREGON STATE (0-2, 5-6)
Oregon State split its non-conference series last week, picking up a 59-44 win over Holy Cross in the Surf-N-Slam Tournament in San Diego, Calif. ... The victory came on the heels of a near upset of Texas on Thursday, 65-64 ... OSU improves to 5-6 on the season, while still seeking its first win in Pac-10 play, currently at 0-2 ... SR G Casey Nash helped the Beavers break a five-game losing streak as she led the team in scoring for the 10th time on the season when she finished with 16 points on Saturday ... Nash also broke the 20-point barrier for the seventh time on the year when she hit 10-of-18 shots for 25 points against the Longhorns ... She also pulled down eight rebounds and tallied three steals ... Nash is averaging a Pac-10-leading 21.2 points per game and is shooting 55-percent (95-for-171) from the field ... She also ranks second on OSU's team with 7.7 rebounds per game and is scoring exactly 1/3 of Oregon State's total points each game ... The Beavers will play at UCLA on Fri., Jan. 5, followed a Sun., Jan. 7 game with USC.

STANFORD (4-0, 10-3)
Stanford has won eight games in a row, including a two-game home series with the Arizona schools last week and a non-conference mid-week matchup that saw the Cardinal defeat Fresno State, 80-52 ... Stanford also defeated Arizona on Thursday, 86-58 and took care of 10/11 Arizona State, 77-71 on Saturday ... JR G Candice Wiggins was named Pac-10 Player of the Week for her performance, which included a 21-point outburst against the Sun Devils as she went 7-for-15 from the floor and 5-for-8 from downtown to help guide the Cardinal to the big win ... The victory keeps Stanford tied atop the Pac-10 standings at 4-0 with Washington ... The Cardinal are 10-3 overall with a Sat., Jan. 6 contest at California awaiting them ... The traditional rivals face off at 2 p.m. with the tip scheduled to be televised by Comcast Sports Network ... Stanford has a bit of history on its side as California has not defeated the Cardinal since 2001, while holding a 39-4 all-time series advantage ... The team will look to continue its winning streak behind the efforts of Wiggins, SR F/C Brooke Smith and FR F/C Jayne Appel, among others ... In her last three games, Appel has averaged 15.3 points off the bench, leading the squad in scoring in two of those games ... Appel narrowly missed a double-double against the Bulldogs, pulling down nine boards to go along with her 15 points.

UCLA (2-2, 8-8)
UCLA split on the road over the week, netting a 74-71 edging of Washington State on Friday, before falling to Washington, 72-67 on Sunday ... The Bruins evened their record at 8-8 overall, 2-2 in Pac-10 play ... SR G Noelle Quinn was impressive, as always, finishing one rebound shy of a triple-double at WSU, recording a season-high 24 points with 10 assists and 9 rebounds ... The double-double was Quinn's third of the season and 24th of her career ... Quinn led UCLA with 19 points and six assists at Washington and added five rebounds ... She moved into the Top-10 on UCLA's career charts for assists (ninth place - 367) and rebounds (10th place - 681) and also moved up to No. 11 on UCLA's career scoring charts with 1,545 points ... The Bruins shot well on the weekend, including starting out the Washington State game hitting 13 of their first 17 shots for a 76.5 shooting percentage ... The Bruins outshot Washington on Sunday, 43.1 percent-38.9 percent ... UCLA will next take on Oregon State on Fri., Jan. 5 and Oregon on Sun., Jan. 7.

USC (1-3, 7-7)
USC picked up its first Conference win in a 62-56 win over Washington State on Sunday ... The Women of Troy suffered a 76-60 loss to Washington on Friday, bringing their record to 1-3 in Pac-10 play, 7-7 overall ... SR G Shay Murphy had her sixth double-double of the year with 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Huskies, while she also recorded 16 points against the Cougars, notching her 38th and 39th-straight game scoring in double figures ... A strong free throw shooting team, USC made a season-high 22 free throws and shot a season-high 36, but ended in a season-low 61 percent free throw percentage on Sunday ... The win over Washington State marked USC's 13th straight ... The Women of Troy have a home series this weekend with the Oregon schools taking on the Ducks on Fri., Jan. 5 and the Beavers on Sun., Jan. 7 ... The Trojans lead UO by a 25-15 all-time series record, while also holding a 27-14 series advantage over Oregon State.

WASHINGTON (4-0, 11-4)
Washington improved to 4-0 in Pac-10 play, 11-4 overall with its home sweep of the Los Angeles schools last weekend, including a 76-60 win over USC on Friday and a 72-67 defeat of UCLA on Sunday ... SR G Cameo Hicks helped extend the Huskies' winning streak to eight games as she averaged team-highs of 20 points, three assists and two steals and also averaged 5.5 rebounds ... She shot 46.4 percent from the field (13-for-28) in the two games and was perfect from the line (10-for-10) ... Hicks has now tallied 10-straight double-figure scoring games and has five 20-point games to her credit this season ... She has scored at least 17 points in the last seven-straight games ... SR F Jill Bell came off the bench for 12 points and eight rebounds against the Bruins, while JR G Emily Florence chipped in nine points and five rebounds ... Washington improved its home winning streak to 11 games dating back to last season ... The Huskies will travel to the desert this coming week to take on Arizona, Thurs., Jan. 4, and Arizona State, Sun., Jan. 7. UW's game at ASU on Sunday will be televised live on FSN.

WASHINGTON STATE (1-3, 5-9)
Washington State had a tough week as it dropped two contests, including a close 74-71 game with UCLA on Friday and a 62-56 game with USC on Sunday ... The Cougars are now 1-3 in league play, 5-9 overall ... SO G Amanda DuRocher finished the weekend with 20 points ... DuRocher shot 3-of-7 from behind the three-point arc and finished 4-of-10 from the field, tallying 11 points in a losing effort against the Bruins, Friday night ... DuRocher's effort earned her a starting role in Sunday's game against USC, in which she played 38 minutes and finished 3-for-8 in three-pointers and ended the game with nine points in the USC loss ... DuRocher finished the Pac-10 weekend with seven rebounds, three assists and 20 points for the Cougars ... Washington State will look for its next Pac-10 win with a road series in the desert this weekend, taking on Arizona State on Thurs., Jan. 4 and Arizona on Sat., Jan. 6 ... The Cougars split their series with the Wildcats last season, picking up an 84-77 win over UA at home in Pullman ... The all-time series stands at 22-18 (ARIZ), while ASU holds a 28-12 all-time advantage over Washington State.
