Shannon Tevaga To Play Senior Year at UCLA
Jan. 11, 2007
UCLA junior offensive guard Shannon Tevaga will play his senior season. Tevaga, who figures to be one of top guards in the nation in 2007, discussed leaving early with his family but ultimately decided to stay in school.
'I feel like we have the chance to do something special next year and I want to be a part of it,' said Tevaga of the Bruins, who will return 20 starters and have 25 scholarship seniors in 2007. 'I also want to earn my degree and have the chance to play in a game with my brother.'
Sonny Tevaga will be a redshirt freshman in 2007 and also plays offensive line.
'I felt I should at least look at my options since I would like to help my family but ultimately, UCLA is where I want to be,' said Tevaga, who has started 31 consecutive games. 'I love playing with the other guys on the line and I think we'll be real good next year.'
'Shannon has a chance to be one of the better players in our conference next season and his experience will be an asset to our offensive unit,' said head coach Karl Dorrell. 'Another year of college experience will benefit him in the long run.'
