SoCal Baseball Media Day Slated for January 17

Los Angeles - SoCal Baseball Media Day will feature 13 Southern California-affiliated college baseball teams at Long Beach State's Walter Pyramid on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The day's events, set to begin at 9:30 a.m., will be streamed live on CSTV.com and will be featured in a show later this month on College Sports Television (CSTV).
Players and head coaches from 13 SoCal-area baseball teams will participate in a question and answer session prior to the afternoon luncheon. Third-year head coach John Savage and sophomore catcher Ryan Babineau will represent the 13th-ranked Bruins at the fifth-annual media day.
In the collegiate setting, area teams have made 44 College World Series appearances and won 21 national championships. Head coaches and players from UCLA, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and USC will be on hand to field questions from members of the media in an event separate from the online conference that CSTV will carry.

The Bruins open the 2007 season Friday, Feb. 2, at Jackie Robinson Stadium against Winthrop, ranked 23rd by Baseball America and 25th by Rivals.com. Game time is 6 p.m.
