Jan. 11, 2007
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA diver Tess Schofield has been named Pac-10 Women's Diver of the Month for December, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
A sophomore from Mission Viejo, Calif., Schofield won her second platform competition of the year, this time with a win at the Texas Invitational where she defeated several of the top divers from Texas, Hawaii, Florida, Houston and Stanford.
Despite facing some of the nation's best, Schofield scored all 9's on her second dive to help her tally a season-best 270.65 points to help her win the event. Her point total was more than nine points better than her nearest competitor at the event and was an NCAA Zone `E' qualifier.
In addition to winning the platform competition, Schofield competed on both the 1 and 3-meter events finishing 13th (239.15) and 26th (216.60), respectively.
This is the first monthly honor for Schofield and UCLA's third Diver of the Month all-time.
