WSU Returns Home to Host Northern Arizona

Who, What, When, Where: WSU women's swimming hosts the Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks Saturday, Jan. 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Gibb Pool.

Cougar Recap: The team recently completed a two-week training camp in Colorado...the Cougars first trained at Denver University before traveling to Colorado Springs and the Olympic Training Center...WSU finished their training trip with a meet at Metropolitan State College of Denver and defeated the Roadrunners 94-53...Lina Daugvilaite took first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:58.09 and Jamie MacLeod won the top spot in the 200 freestyle (2:02.18) the 50 freestyle, Danielle Berish swam to first place with a time of 26.16 while Michaela Ahlin's time of 54.10 was first in the 100 freestyle...Kayli Changstrom took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.94.

Scouting the Lumberjacks: Most recently, Northern Arizona dropped a dual meet to the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs, despite winning six events...the Lumberjacks are led by senior Alexis Buckley who earned two individual wins against the Horned Frogs...Buckley placed first in the 1650 freestyle at the 2006 Western Athletic Conference Championships...senior Corie Collins is the current school record holder in the 50 and 100 freestyle...senior Cassie Lyons owns the school record in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events...head coach Andy Johns is in his 11th season with the Lumberjacks.

Marvelous McCleave: Senior Erin McCleave continues to rewrite the WSU record books...most recently, McCleave set a WSU record in the 100 freestyle finals at the Texas Invitational with a time of 50.40...McCleave also set three Gibb Pool records against Washington Nov. 10 in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle events...her first Gibb Pool record of the season came in the first home dual meet of the season when she swam the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:51.93 against San Jose State Oct. UC Davis Oct. 27, McCleave turned in her first NCAA 'B' Consideration Standard time in the 200 freestyle...since then, the Rutherglen, Australia native has recorded nine additional NCAA 'B' Consideration times.
