Day One Results From The Aztec Invitational

The 57th-ranked Arizona State Men's Tennis Team opened the Aztec Invitational winning three of four singles matches Friday. The tournament, which does not keep team scores, features players from Arizona State, as well as, 49th-ranked San Diego State and Santa Clara.

In singles action, sophomore Ryan Waits defeated Anthony Gomez of SDSU 6-1, 6-1. Also, true freshmen Juan Carlos Rebaza and Matt Brooklyn each earned singles victories for the Sun Devils.

ASU was 0-2 in doubles action on the first day. Booklyn and Waits were defeated by SDSU's Markus Dickhardt and Achim Ceban 8-5 and Rebaza and red-shirt freshman Jack Marsh fell to Gomez and Billy Timu of SDSU, 8-3.

The Sun Devils will continue their participation in The Aztec Invitational at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Santa Clara at the Aztec Tennis Center.
