Dejan Cvetkovic Advances To Sherwood Singles Final

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. -- USC junior Dejan Cvetkovic secured himself a place in Monday's singles championship match with a decisive semifinal win on Sunday at the Sherwood Cup. Cvetkovic downed Pepperdine's James Lemke 6-2, 6-3 for his fourth consecitive straight-set win in the tournament. He will square off against UCLA's Haythem Abid on Monday at 11 a.m. in the championship match.
It was almost an all-USC singles final, as Trojan senior Kaes Van't Hof was up against Abid in the other semifinal. Van't Hof pulled double duty on Sunday, also playing in the doubles semifinals with teammate Robert Farah. The USC doubles duo of Van't Hof and Farah was up against top-seeded UCLA pair Grundler/Kohlloefl in the semis, but fell 8-2 to the Bruins. In his singles semifinal, Van't Hof fell 6-3, 6-1 to Abid.
USC begins team play next week, hosting LMU and Cal Poly for a dual match doubleheader on Jan. 20 at Marks Stadium.
