Cougars Head to Seattle for Rivalry Weekend

COMING UP NEXT: Washington State (5-13 overall; 1-7 Pac-10) travels to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies (12-7 overall; 5-3 Pac-10) in a classic in-state rivalry...tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at Washington's Bank of America Arena.
COUGAR RECAP: Washington State played host to two nationally-ranked teams as No. 22 California and No. 10 Stanford visited the Palouse...Cougars battled the Golden Bears Thursday, taking California to the brink before falling 55-48...freshman Marisa Stotler led all Cougar scorers with 12 points and added four steals...Amanda DuRocher came off the bench to score all nine of her points in the second half...in the first five minutes of the game, WSU held California to a mere two points and the Cougars entered halftime with a three-point lead...despite the loss, WSU held California, the conference's second-best shooting percentage team, to only 38.6 percent shooting from the field...the Cougar defense also kept the Golden Bears 14 points below their scoring average of 69.6 ppg...Saturday afternoon brought No. 10 Stanford to Beasley Coliseum...Marisa Stotler and Amanda DuRocher paced the Cougar offense with 17 points apiece...Stotler also added five steals, tying her season-high...WSU's defense forced Stanford to commit 20 turnovers, six over their conference-leading average of 14.6 turnovers per game...the Cougars ended the game on a 12-0 run, but lost 63-55 to the Cardinal.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES: The Washington Huskies are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, having dropped their contests against California and Stanford...the Huskies are led by senior Cameo Hicks who is averaging 17.7 ppg this season and 5.4 rpg...Hicks has recorded 14 straight double-digit scoring games...junior point guard Emily Florence leads the team in assists (69) and steals (37)...currently, Washington is leading the Pac-10 in offensive rebounding with 17.79 offensive boards per game and is second in the conference in scoring average (72.6 ppg)...the Huskies are coached by June Daugherty who is in her 11th season with UW...while at the helm, Daugherty has led the Huskies to the postseason eight times, including an Elite Eight appearance in the 2000-01 NCAA Tournament.
THE COUGAR-HUSKY SERIES: Washington State is 17-53 all-time against UW...the Huskies are currently riding a 22-game win streak that dates back to January 20, 1996...the last Cougar victory over Washington came February 25, 1995 in Pullman when WSU defeated UW 72-67...the Huskies were ranked 14th in the nation and the Cougar win marked the first since 1993.
