No. 4 Bruins Cruise in 2007 Season Opener

LOS ANGELES - The fourth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team (1-0) turned in a dominating performance in its 2007 season opener on Thursday, posting a 7-0 decision over UC Irvine (0-1) at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. With the win, the Bruins improve to 30-2 all-time against the Anteaters and have now won the last 16 meetings between the two teams.
The featured match of the afternoon came at No. 1 singles, where fifth-ranked Benjamin Kohlloeffel took on former Bruin Aaron Yovan. Kohlloeffel, the defending NCAA singles champion, was the first to finish his match after registering a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
UCLA's other singles players followed suit, as Haythem Abid, Mathieu Dehaine, Philipp Gruendler, Jeremy Drean and Michael Look all posted straight-set wins. Look lost just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Alex Sundling at court No. 6.
UCLA has two more home matches next week, hosting San Diego on Wednesday and BYU on Friday. Both matches begin at 1:30 p.m.
