Fullerton, Calif. - UCLA broke 196 for the first time this season, scoring 196.05 to place first in a triangular meet at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Gym on Friday evening. Cal State Fullerton placed second with a 190.425, while San Jose State was third with a 189.175. Junior Tasha Schwikert won all four events and captured the all-around title with a national-best 39.675.
The Bruins started off with a season-best 49.15 on bars and were led by Schwikert's season-high 9.9 on a difficult routine packed with big release moves and punctuated by a stuck full-twisting double back dismount. Anna Li and Ashley Jenkins each set new career highs with a 9.875 and 9.825, respectively, and Ashley Peckett set a new season-high with a 9.8.
On floor exercise, UCLA scored 48.825 and was led by Schwikert, who scored her third-consecutive 9.9 to take first place. Ashley Peckett had the Bruins' next-highest mark with a 9.775.
UCLA shined on vault in the final rotation, scoring a season-high 49.4. All six Bruins made the Top 6 in the individual standings, led by Schwikert, who planted a huge Yurchenko layout full vault to earn a 10.0 from one judge and a final mark of 9.975, tying her career-high. Peckett (9.9), Li (9.85), Michelle Selesky (9.85), Ariana Berlin (9.825) and Natalie Padilla (9.8) also scored season-bests.
The seventh-ranked Bruins will host eighth-ranked Arizona on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2 pm in Pauley Pavilion.
