Conrad 8th After 4 Events in Heptathlon at Roger Cox Multis

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - California junior Steven Conrad is in fourth place, freshman teammate Kyle Mills-Bunje stands 10th and senior teammate Jonas Hallgrimsson holds 13th place after four events of the indoor heptathlon at the Roger Cox Multis on Thursday at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Conrad, who has 2,889 points, Mills-Bunje (2,820) and Hallgrimsson (2,690) will complete the final three events - the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meter run - tomorrow.
Conrad opened the competition by winning the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.03 seconds. He later recorded a long jump of 22-04.50 (6.82 meters), a shot put throw of 40-11.75 (12.49) and a high jump of 5-10 (1.78).
Mills-Bunje had Cal's best mark in the high jump, with a 6-02.75 (1.90), ran a 7.30 in the 60, notched a mark of 21-05.50 (6.54) in the long jump and had a throw of 40-01.25 (12.22) in the shot put.
Hallgrimsson had the Bears' best mark in the shot put (42-00.50, 12.81), clocked a 7.69 in the 60, had a long jump of 21-08 (6.60) and tallied a high jump of 6-00.50 (1.84).
The Roger Cox Multis will conclude tomorrow, with the completion of the women's pentathlon and the men's heptathlon. Cal sophomore Tifani Grimes is scheduled to compete in the pentathlon. Also, the Dan DeHart Invitational, which includes the rest of the track and field events, will begin tomorrow and run through Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
