Lovemark Makes Cut At Buick Invitational
Jan. 26, 2007
USC freshman Jamie Lovemark made his second cut in as many tries as an amateur in a PGA Tour event, combining his first-round 66 with a second-round 74 on Friday (Jan. 26) to finish tied for 37th halfway through the 2007 Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif.
Lovemark, who finished the fall season No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, finished with a 36-hole 140 (-2). Not quite as sharp as on Thursday when he had seven birdies, Lovemark provided himself with enough of a cushion to withstand a back nine +2 on Friday.
He is among 15 players tied at 140, a group that includes former Trojan All-American Kevin Stadler. Another 23 players tied at 141, just inside of the cut. Lovemark and Stadler are nine shots off the lead, held by Brandt Snedeker at 131.
Lovemark's first professional tournament was at the 2006 Western Open, where he tied for 54th.
The Buick Invitational continues Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 27-28).
