Cal Men Finish 3rd, Women 4th at Dan DeHart Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The California men's track and field team took third place and the Golden Bears women were fourth at the conclusion of the indoor Dan DeHart Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The Cal men scored 70 points and the women collected 58.
Texas Tech (88) won the men's competition, while Arizona (66.50) captured the women's title.
Cal highlights included a top three sweep of the men's 800-meter run (Francis Gadayan, 1:54.59, David Torrence, 1:55.28, and Kevin Davis, 1:55.45), a 1-2 finish in the women's 400-meter dash (Alysia Johnson, 54.48, and Brook Turner, 55.19), Cassandra Strickland's win in the women's triple jump with a Convention Center record and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 43-03.25 (13.19 meters), Ed Wright's second-place men's high jump finish in an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 7-01.00 (2.16), and a victory in the women's 4x400-meter relay (Kandi Bonty, Turner, Kristin Holmes and Johnson, 3:44.07).
