Softball Starts Season Ranked Fifth Nationally

TEMPE, Ariz. - After beginning the 2006 season unranked, the 2007 Arizona State Softball team has been awarded a preseason rank of fifth by both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball Preseason Top 25 Polls.

According to USA Softball, 'The Sun Devils are on track to make it back to the World Series after losing only one starter from their 2006 squad'.  

The Sun Devils will begin their 2007 campaign next week as they kick off the season Thursday, February 8 with a doubleheader against Northwestern State before hosting the Kajikawa Classic, a tournament which showcases some of the marquee names in softball, as five of the eight Women's College World Series participants and eight of the 22 Kajikawa Participants are ranked in the Top 25.
