Cougar Men's Basketball Duo Earns Academic Recognition

PULLMAN, Wash. - Junior Robbie Cowgill and redshirt-sophomore Daven Harmeling have been named to the ESPN The Magazine District VIII All-Academic Second Team as voted on by member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Cowgill and Harmeling are the first Washington State men's basketball student-athletes to earn CoSIDA all-academic district honors since Carlos Daniel in 1998 (first team).
A native of Austin, Texas, Cowgill has a 3.35 grade point average in management operations. On the court, he is averaging 7.7 points per game and is 19th in the Pacific-10 Conference with 5.2 rebounds per outing.
Harmeling is from Grand Junction, Colo., and carries a 3.49 GPA in health and fitness. He is shooting 41.5 percent from 3-point range. Twice, he has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week this season becoming the second Cougar in school history to earn the award two times in a season.
