Pluimer, Quinn Earn Academic All-District Honors

UCLA junior forward Lindsey Pluimer (San Clemente, Calif.) and senior guard Noelle Quinn (Los Angeles, Calif.) have earned CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 8 Women's Basketball honors. Pluimer was selected to the second-team, while Quinn was named to the third-team.
Pluimer, a third-team All-District and first-team Pac-10 All-Academic honoree a year ago, holds a 3.68 cumulative GPA in Communication Studies. She currently ranks second on the Bruin team in scoring (15.9 ppg), third in rebounding (6.0 rpg), first in blocked shots (0.84) and third in steals (27) and also ranks eighth in the Pac-10 Conference in scoring average, second in free throw% (.830), seventh in offensive rebounding (2.56), and eighth in blocked shots. Pluimer, who has started in every game of her Bruin career, has led UCLA in scoring in eight games this year and has recorded two double-doubles. As a sophomore, she averaged 10.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, and in her freshman campaign, she averaged 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds and received first-team Pac-10 All-Freshman honors.
Quinn, who holds a 3.21 cumulative GPA in Sociology, leads UCLA in scoring (16.8), rebounding (7.0) and assists (6.0). She also ranks fifth in scoring and second in assists in the Pac-10 Conference and is tied for 13th nationally in assists. She has made her way into UCLA's record books, currently ranking eighth in points (1,699) and rebounds (757) and seventh in assists (416). Quinn was named to the pre-season Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy and Wade Trophy Watch Lists and is a nominee for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. Last season, she earned first-team Academic All-District acclaim and honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honors. She was also an honorable mention AP and Kodak/WBCA All-American. Quinn is a three-time All-Pac-10 selection and earned Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors in 2004.
In order to be nominated for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a player must be a starter or significant reserve, must have a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at her institution. Voting is done by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
