Trojans Play No. 17 San Diego This Weekend

LOS ANGELES -- The USC baseball team (3-2) begins a series against No. 17 San Diego (5-1) this weekend (Feb. 9-11). Friday and Saturday's games will be played at Dedeaux Field with the series finale on Sunday taking place in San Diego at Cunningham Stadium. Friday's game will start at 7 p.m. with a 1:30 p.m. start on Saturday and 1 p.m. start on Sunday. All three games will be broadcast live, along with Gametracker live stats, on usctrojans.com.

Friday's game at 7 p.m. features one of the top five pitching matchups in the nation this weekend, according to Rivals.com. USC sophomore right-hander Ryan Cook (Clovis/Clovis HS) will go against San Diego left-handed ace Brian Matusz (2-0, 1.54). Last weekend, Matusz earned the win at Texas and has struck out 21 batters in only 11 2/3 innings so far this season.

Head coach Chad Kreuter has announced a change in his starting rotation with left-hander Anthony Vasquez starting on Sunday with freshman right-hander Brad Boxberger getting the call on Sunday in San Diego.
