Sam Helvie Finished Seventh in the One-Meter

BERKELEY - California's sophomore diver Sam Helvie finished seventh on the one-meter springboard on the first day of the 2007 Pac-10 Diving Championships, on Friday, in Federal Way, Wash., at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.

Helvie scored a 305.95 on the one-meter in the preliminaries. He then posted a 277.60 in the finals to finish seventh in the event. The January Pac-10 Diver of the Month's season-best mark of 358.25 was set at the Dallas Morning News Invitational.

Junior Javier Rivas also competed and finished ninth in the preliminaries with his mark of 265.75.

Cal divers will compete in the three-meter springboard tomorrow at the Pac-10 Championships.
