Trojans 5th At Northrop Grumman Regional After First Day

Spring semester freshman transfer Belen Mozo, playing in her first tournament as a Trojan, carded a team-low 75 to lead a solid effort by the USC women's golf team, which finished in sixth place after the first day of the 15-team 2007 Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Monday (Feb. 12) at the Palos Verdes (Calif.) G.C.
No. 13 USC finished the first day with a combined 304 (+20) in tough, brisk conditions, only seven shots behind first-place Pepperdine (297, +13). Florida is second (299) and defending champion Arizona State is tied for third with Texas A&M (300).
Mozo finished tied for 13th with her 75 (+4), including a par on the front nine. Juniors Paola Moreno and Dewi-Claire Schreefel finished a shot back at 76 (+5), tied for 19th. Pepperdine's Jayvie Agojo (69) is in first.
USC senior Veronica Felibert was yet another shot back at 76 (+6), tied for 27th while senior Catalina Marin tied for 49th with an 80 (+9). Junior Stephanie Hickerson, playing as an individual, tied for 71st with an 85 (+14).
