Buehler Reports to U.S. National Team Training Camp
Feb. 13, 2007
Stanford, Calif. - Rachel Buehler of the Stanford women's soccer team was among the 28 players selected to participate in the U.S. Women's National Team February training camp, which begins tomorrow at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif and runs through Feb. 21. The Cardinal standout was one of eight defenders and two current Pac-10 players named to the roster.
Buehler, a redshirt junior, was the anchor of the Stanford defense in 2006, leading the team to one of the top-10 shutout percentages in the nation (.652), with 15 on the year. She also helped the team to one of the lowest goals-against averages in the nation (.55) and captained the squad that advanced to the NCAA Third Round. The Del Mar, Calif. started for the USA in both the 2002 and 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championships. This is her third call-up to the full Women's National Team, and her second training camp this year.
Following the camp, Ryan will name 20 players that will travel to the 14th annual Algarve Cup, to be played from March 7-14, 2007, in southern Portugal.
