Stanford-Menlo Dual to Count on Cardinal Records
Feb. 13, 2007
Stanford, Calif. - The dual meet between the Stanford Cardinal and the Menlo College Oaks on January 27, which was originally scored as an exhibition, will now count towards the Stanford individual and team records. The Cardinal is now 8-7 on the season, and remains 5-3 in the Pac-10.
After communications with NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee Secretary Rules Editor Bob Bubb, it was determined that the missing official was no fault of either institution. Both coaches agreed on a substitute referee, allowing the matches to count.
Six Stanford wrestlers improve their records with the decision. Tanner Gardner now has 12 pins on the season, and boasts a 33-3 overall record. Going into the final weekend of the regular season, Gardner has 93 career wins. Tyler Parker improves to 9-14 on the year and Brian Perry improves to 25-12. Luke Feist is now 23-14, and Jake Johnson improves to 9-5. Freshman Zack Giesen is now 27-12, has won 12-straight bouts and remains third on the Stanford all-time freshman win chart.
The Cardinal finishes up the regular season on Friday night against Arizona State in the Ford Center.
