Feb. 14, 2007

TEMPE, Ariz. - Junior outfielder Matt Spencer has been named a College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll Player of the Week. This is the first week the College Baseball Foundation began honoring players for the 2007 season.

The Morristown, Tenn. product continued his torrid offensive start to the year at the Houston College Classic last weekend at Minute Maid park, picking up Most Outstanding Player honors. Spencer went 6-12 with two home runs and five RBI. He helped lead ASU to a 2-1 record in the tournament, with wins over Texas A&M and Houston. This is the second straight week Spencer has earned a national honor, as he was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week last week by Collegiate Baseball.

Established as a 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization, the CBF hopes to not only catalog the sports' history within its' newly announced College Baseball Hall of Fame, but to provide an aggressive and enduring advocacy for the college game. It views its primary mission as fostering an appreciation of the historical development of college baseball and its impact on our culture, and increasing public awareness, exposure and generating additional opportunities for college baseball.
