Stanford to Compete at ITA Indoor Nationals Feb. 16-19

Stanford will face its third straight Top 10 team on Friday, Feb. 16 when the Cardinal begin play in the USTA/ITA National Men's Indoor Team Championship against No. 2 and undefeated Ohio State. The tournament includes 16 of the best teams in the country, including nine of the Top 10, and will continue through Monday, Feb. 19 at the Midtown Tennis Center in Chicago.
The Cardinal, 0-4 thus far in 2007, has lost its last two matches to No. 4 UCLA and No. 8 Baylor. Stanford's second match at the Indoor Nationals on Saturday, Feb. 17, will be against either Baylor, the fifth-seed, or Duke, seeded No. 11.
The 16-team field includes, by seeded order: Georgia, Ohio State, UCLA, Virginia, Mississippi, Illinois, Baylor, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, Duke, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Texas, Miami, Stanford (seeded 15th) and Penn.
Stanford, which boasts a national best 12 Indoor National Team titles, last won the tournament in 2003. Since 2000, the Cardinal and Illinois are tied with the most appearances in the finals with three apiece, each winning two titles in that span.
