Arnold and Teo Lead Bruin Women at Pac-10 Championships

Senior Katie Arnold and junior Nicolette Teo led the No. 16 Bruin women on day three of the Pac-10 Championships as UCLA stands in fourth-place (671 pts.) with one day left of competition. Stanford is in first-place with 970.5 points, closely followed by Arizona with 946.5 points.
Arnold and Teo were the only Bruins to swim in the top final, as Arnold swam an NCAA automatic 54.17 in the 100 Back to finish seventh overall, while Teo was fifth in the 100 Breast in a lifetime-best swim of 1:01.83.
In the 400 IM A Consolation, junior Chiemi Yamamoto (4:17.98) and senior Jeana Fuccillo (4:21.38) finished 10th and 13th, respectively, as both times were NCAA 'B' qualifying times. In the B Consolation, senior Courtney Iversen (4:24.14) and sophomore Kristen Fischer (4:24.30) placed 19th and 20th, respectively.
Thurman finished 15th overall in the 100 Fly, swimming an NCAA 'B' time of 55.25.
Senior Katie Nelson swam a lifetime-best and NCAA 'B' qualifier of 1:48.90 to win the B Consolation of the 200 Freestyle. Poteete (1:50.77) and sophomore Silke Nowtozin (1:51.06), also swimming in the B Consolation, finished 20th and 22nd, respectively.
Senior Luisa Los-Santos finished 21st in the B Consolation of the 100 Breast in a time of 1:04.48.
In the 100 Back A Consolation, sophomore Isabell Fischer swam an NCAA 'B' qualifier of 55.78 to finish 14th overall.
Three-meter diving results were also added into tonight's point total, with the Bruins picking up a multitude of points after sophomore Marisa Samaniego (324.20) was second, seniors Sara Clark (300.35) and Amanda Blong (299.95) were third and fourth and sophomore Tess Schofield (270.6) placed sixth.
The final day of the Pac-10 Swimming Championships will commence at 11:00 am on Saturday with the prelim heats, while the finals will begin at 6:00 pm. The Bruins will compete in the 1650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly and 400 Free Relay. Platform diving points will also be added in on Saturday.
