UCLA's Brandon Crawford Earns Pac-10 Player of the Week Honors

Walnut Creek, Calif. - UCLA sophomore shortstop Brandon Crawford has captured Pac-10 Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 12-18, the conference announced Tuesday. Crawford posted a .533 average (8-for-15) with a game-winning grand slam in UCLA's 9-7 victory over East Carolina Saturday afternoon. Arizona right-hander Preston Guilmet earned Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week accolades.
With the Bruins trailing 7-5 in the bottom of the eighth on Saturday, Crawford blasted a two-out grand slam to give UCLA the lead, 9-7. The Pleasanton, Calif. resident totaled four runs, one double, one home run and four stolen bases in the Bruins' three-game weekend sweep of East Carolina.
In addition to his strong performance against the Pirates, Crawford led UCLA with a 3-for-4 outing and scored two runs in the Bruins' 3-2 victory over UC Riverside on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Crawford has hit in each of UCLA's 10 games this season.
No. 15 UCLA looks for its fifth-consecutive victory when the Bruins play at No. 20 Long Beach State Tuesday evening. First pitch at Blair Field is slated for 6:30 p.m.
