FEDERAL WAY, Wash.-- The University of Washington men's swimming team is in sixth place after the first night of competition at the 2006 Pac-10 Men's Swimming Championships. The Huskies placed sixth in both the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays.
In the 800 freestyle relay, Washington shaved eight seconds off its season-best time to finish sixth in a time of 6:41.20. Scott Spansail, Ivan Perhat, David Bai and Henry Hudson combined for the swim, while Spansail's split of 1:40.24 in the first 200 yards marked the fastest time of the season for the Huskies.
'Things are going well with two season-best times,' said head coach Whitney Hite. 'It's a good start to the meet and we are ready to rock and roll tomorrow.'
Competition continues Thursday with the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay.
