Kantola Leads No. 5 Bruin Women on Day One of MPSF Championships

Junior Ingrid Kantola led the Bruin women on day one of the MPSF Indoor Championships in Seattle, WA as she placed second in the pole vault with a jump of 13-5.25. It was Kantola's second-best jump of her career, as she cleared 13-10 last weekend in Flagstaff, AZ.
Also having a successful day in the vault were senior Jacqueline Nguyen and junior Megan Jamerson. Nguyen and Jamerson both cleared season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying marks of 12-11.50. Jamerson tied for third, while Nguyen ended up in sixth-place. Jamerson's mark was also a lifetime-best at UCLA. Junior Elizabeth Woepse finished 11th in the vault with a lifetime-best mark of 12-5.50.
Junior Georgea Richards jumped an indoor lifetime-best 19-10.25 to finish fourth in the long jump. Her mark was just five centimeters shy of the NCAA provisional mark of 20-0.
In the 200m, freshman Danielle Watson finished 14th in a time of 25.18, while Richard was 20th in 26.00.
The Bruin women currently rank sixth after seven events with 26 points, while Arizona State leads with 53 points. Stanford stands in second with 48 points.
Competition continues on Saturday in Seattle.
