Men's Golf In Third At Puerto Rico Classic

Rio Mar, Puerto Rico - The nationally ranked Stanford men's golf team stand in third place at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico, after shooting a seven-under par 281 on day one. No. 16 East Tennessee State owns the lead after scoring a blistering 15-under, par 273. Fifth-ranked Georgia is in second place, six shots back, with a 279. Oklahoma State is fourth (282) and Clemson is fifth (283) to round out the top five.
The Cardinal were led by senior Matt Savage who carded a 68 today and is tied for third on the individual leaderboard. Freshman Joseph Bramlett is tied for seventh just one stroke behind Savage with a 69. Teammate Dodge Kemmer is tied for 24th with a one-under 71 while junior Rob Grube shot a one-over par 73 and is tied for 44th heading into tomorrow's second round. Senior Zack Miller rounds out the Cardinal competitor's with a 78 and is tied for 78th.
Two East Tennessee State golfers share the individual lead at seven-under par 65 - Rhys Davies and Cian McNamara. Four golfers are tied for third including Savage.
