Dejan Cvetkovic Named Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player Of The Week
Feb. 26, 2007
USC senior Dejan Cvetkovic has earned his second career honor as the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week following another strong weekend of action. Cvetkovic tacked up two more singles wins and remained undefeated in doubles play with Jamil Al-Agba last weekend, helping to lift USC to its best season start since 1991.
USC is now 9-0 on the year, thanks in large part to Cvetkovic's strength at the No. 2 singles position and with his role in No. 1 doubles. Against Texas A&M, Cvetkovic secured the doubles point for USC with a tight 9-7 win at the No. 1 slot with Al-Agba before winning his singles match to keep USC moving toward victory. In the San Diego match, Cvetkovic had the clinching singles win, pulling out the tiebreaker in the first set before cruising to a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win. Cvetkovic is now 12-4 in singles play (6-2 in dual matches) and a perfect 7-0 with Al-Agba in doubles. He is ranked #71 in the latest ITA singles rankings.
This is Cvetkovic's second career award and first of the season for the senior. He joins junior Kaes Van't Hof as Trojan honorees this year.
