Feb. 27, 2007

Tucson, Ariz. - The second-ranked Arizona State women's golf team finished in first place at the 2007 Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. The Sun Devils secured back-to-back Wildcat Invitational championships with an eight-stroke lead over second-place Duke.

'We are absolutely thrilled to be leaving Tucson with a first-place trophy at the Wildcat Invitational,' said Associate Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye. 'They played right with the two-time NCAA defending champion Duke and showed them they were not afraid to play against a top-ranked team.'

Duke is ranked fourth in the nation according to Golfweek.com.

The Sun Devils were led by freshman Anna Nordqvist who finished tied for second place after shooting a 1-over 214 (77-67-70). ASU boasted three players in the top-five and four players in the top-20, the only team in the tournament to record either feat.

Next up, the Sun Devils travel to College Station, Texas to take place in the 'Mo'morial Invitational, March 9-11.
