Men's Tennis To Host UNLV and Memphis
March 1, 2007
The Arizona State Sun Devils roll on in their 2007 campaign this weekend as they return from the bay area to host the UNLV Rebels (2-5) and the Memphis Tigers (3-5). The Sun Devils will face the Rebels this Friday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. (PT) and then take on the Memphis Tigers on Tuesday, March 6 at 1: 30 p.m. Both matches will be held at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center.
Against UNLV the Sun Devils hold a 10-1 edge over the Rebels, and against the Tigers, ASU holds the only win in their series history.
Last Time out
The Sun Devils are returning from a trip to the Bay Area last weekend that saw them face Pac-10 Rivals Stanford and Cal for the first time this season. Playing against inclimate weather the Devils fell in their first matches of the season, dropping 5-2 to the Cardinal and 5-0 to Cal. (Doubles were not played due to rain).
The Sun Devils will hit the road again next weekend as they head to South Carolina to take on the #32 Southern Alabama Jaguars and the #31 Clemson Tigers March 11 and 12.
To Be the Best...
As always, the Sun Devils will play one of the toughest schedules in the country, possibly the toughest in program history this year, combining a strong non-conference slate with the always powerful Pac-10 Conference schedule.
At The Helm
Coach Lou Belken enters his 25th season at the helm of the Sun Devil program, the sixth longest tenure of any head coach at ASU. In his 25 seasons, Belken has led his team to 18 berths in the tournament. This year he threatens to top the 300 wins mark as he enters the season with 284 career wins.
