Blue Team Leads by Four at Oak Valley; Gold Team Three Shots Back at North Ranch

The UCLA men's golf Blue Team was in first place after 18 holes at the UC Riverside Braveheart Classic and the Bruins' Gold Team was in third place at the USC Invitational after two rounds Monday.
The Blue Team led the field by four shots after a windy day at Oak Valley GC in Beaumont, posting a score of 308 (+20). In second place was Jacksonville at 312 (+24), followed by Cal State Northridge at 313 (+25). Utah and Portland were tied for fourth place at 314 (+26).
Individually for the Blue Team, sophomore James Lee was tied for first place with five other players after posting a 75 (+3). Freshman Jason Kang and junior Brandon Christianson were tied for ninth place at 77 (+5). Junior Craig Leslie posted a 79 (+7) and was tied for 22nd and freshman Charlie Harris was tied for 64th after posting a score of 84 (+12).
At the USC Invitational, the Gold Team was in third place behind host USC and Stanford. The Bruins posted a 36-hole score of 570 (+2) following rounds of 281 (-3) in the morning and 289 (+5) in the afternoon. USC, on the strength of a second round 277 (-7) led Stanford by one stroke at 568 (E). Tennessee was fourth at 574 (+6) and Cal was fifth at 585 (+17).
Individually for the Gold Team, sophomore Erik Flores was tied for third place at 137 (-5) after rounds of 68-69. Sophomore Lucas Lee was eighth at 141 (-1) following rounds of 71-70. Senior Chris Heintz and junior Daniel Im were tied for 25th at 146 (+4). Heintz posted rounds of 72-74 and Im carded scores of 70-76. Junior Kevin Chappell was tied for 46th at 149 (+7) following rounds of 73-76.
Final round action continues Tuesday for both events.
