Tickets For Second Annual Challenge At Chase Now On Sale
March 6, 2007
TEMPE, Ariz. - Tickets for the second annual Challenge at Chase between Arizona State University and the University of Arizona baseball teams are now on sale, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced today. The non-conference game will take place March 28 at 6:40 p.m. at Chase Field.
Once again, proceeds from this game will go toward the building or refurbishing of youth baseball and softball fields. These fields will be located throughout the state, will feature the logos of ASU, the D-backs and UA and will host youth clinics and camps in the future.
'Last year's game was a huge success and we are looking forward to hosting this match-up again,' D-backs President Derrick Hall said. 'This game not only allows us to showcase the talent of these universities in a Major League Baseball setting, but also allows us to give back to the community by building youth baseball and softball fields.'
'The inaugural Challenge at Chase last spring was a tremendous event for the fans and student-athletes of Arizona State University. I'm excited that we once again have the opportunity to showcase college baseball in one of the finest ballparks in all of Major League Baseball and truly appreciate the Diamondbacks' support behind this event,' said Arizona State University's head baseball coach Pat Murphy. 'We had a fantastic crowd last season and I encourage anyone that is passionate about baseball, or even just the wonderful rivalry between ASU and UA to come out and join us this year.'
'We're very excited for another chance to play in the Challenge at Chase. The Arizona baseball program is very appreciative of the support from the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, and I know our student-athletes are looking forward to the opportunity to play in a Big League ballpark and at a first-rate facility,' said University of Arizona's head baseball coach Andy Lopez. 'Last year's Challenge was a great experience for both our team and our fans, and the fact that we're playing the game in conjunction with the Diamondbacks and their charitable organization makes it very worthwhile event for the whole state of Arizona.'
The field program is tailored after the Diamondbacks Foundation 'Diamonds Back' Field Building program, which has built 22 baseball fields throughout Arizona since 2000. The program is funded by the team's charitable arm, APS, local business partners and D-backs player contributions.
