Men's Swimming Coach Skip Kenney Suspended, Will Not Coach Stanford at NCAA Championships
March 9, 2007
Stanford University Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby announced today that Skip Kenney, head men's swimming coach, will be suspended with pay and will not accompany the Cardinal to next week's NCAA Championships. Bowlsby said an investigation will begin immediately into the allegations levied by former Stanford swimmers and Kenney's role in expunging names from the Cardinal record book.
'We take these allegations very seriously,' said Bowlsby. 'We will take the next several weeks to investigate each one thoroughly before coming to a conclusion on any further actions.'
Associate head coach Ted Knapp will coach the Cardinal at the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Minneapolis, MN., Mar. 17-19.
