Glissmeyer Tied For Lead At 2007 General Jim Hackler Championship
March 11, 2007
Sophomore Tom Glissmeyer posted his second lowest combined first and second rounds of the season to tie for the individual lead while leading the USC men's golf team to second place overall at the 2007 General Jim Hackler Championship sponsored by Chanticleer Holdings at the TPC of Myrtle Beach in Murells Inlet, S.C., on Sunday (March 11).
Glissmeyer fired rounds of 67 and 68 for a 9-under 135 to tie East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies for the individual lead. The sophomore's strong outing helped the No. 8 Trojans to rounds of 278 and 282 for a combined 560 (-16), seven strokes back of leader Lamar. Host Coastal Carolina, ranked No. 6, is 12 shots back of Troy at 572.
USC is looking for at least its seventh finish tied for fifth or better in as many outings and its fifth finish in the top 2. In a strong field, 14 of the 18 teams competing appeared in the NCAA Regional or NCAA Championships last year.
Trojan freshman Jamie Lovemark is tied for seventh at 141 (-3) after rounds of 69 and 72.
Senior Joshua Wooding is tied for 11th at 142 (-2) after a 72 and 70 while freshman Rory Hie, coming off his first collegiate title at the USC Collegiate Invitational last week, is tied for 14th at 143 (-1) after a 70 and 73.
Senior Jordan Nasser rounds out USC's group, tied for 34th at 146 after a 74 and a 72.
