Arizona's Brian Prouty Named Pac-10 Men's Golfer of the Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Brian Prouty of Arizona has been named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month for February 2007.
Prouty, a senior from Tucson, Ariz., returned from wrist surgery to win in his season debut in the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate. Prouty fired a three-round total of 14-under par 199, which included a career-low 62 (-9) in the opening round. That marked a tournament record and was a competitive course record at Arizona National Golf Club. In his second tournament of the month, Prouty finished tied for fourth in the John Burns Intercollegiate with a nine-under score of 208. For the month, four of his six rounds were in the 60s and five of six were at par or better, as he had a 67.83 stroke average. Prouty currently is the top-ranked Pac-10 golfer in the Golfstat rankings.
Also nominated for player of the month honors were Joseph Bramlett of Stanford, winner of the Puerto Rico Classic, Kevin Chappell of UCLA, winner of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, Derek Sipe of Oregon, Tom Glissmeyer of USC and Alex Prugh of Washington.
