Cougars Jump to Eighth At UNLV Tournament

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. - Amy Eneroth shot a final round 70 to finished tied for tenth, leading her Washington State Cougars to an eighth place finish at the UNLV Spring Invitational Wednesday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Eneroth's 70 gave her a three-round total of 214, two under par for the tournament. Meanwhile, the Cougars made the biggest jump among the 18 teams Wednesday, climbing five places with the best round of the day, a 280. The next best team total Wednesday was 283 by New Mexico.

Team honors went to Brigham Young with a three-day total 284, finishing 17 strokes under par. They were followed in order by New Mexico 857, Idaho 859, Indiana 864 and UNLV 873.

Among the teams WSU topped in the tournament were Iowa, Fresno State, Texas Tech, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Boise State and San Diego State.

While Eneroth, a sophomore, took top honors for WSU, freshman Diana Hong shot a closing round 66, the third best total of the day and the best round in three days for the Cougars. Hong ended up tied for 19th.

Jessica Black also had an outstanding final round for WSU, shooting a three-under par 69 to post a 222 for the three days. She ended the tournament tied for 34th. Tracy Broders finished with a 76 Wednesday and 228 for the tournament, good for a tie for 60th, whileBrooke Henderson closed with a 75 Wednesday and a 231 for the tourney. She finishedtied for 78th.
