Decathletes Finish 7th, 9th and 10th at Northridge Spring Break Decathlon

Casey DiCesare, Scott DiCesare and Andreas Drbal finished seventh, ninth and 10th, respectively, at the Northridge Spring Break Decathlon competition. The two day, 10 event competition was held at Cal State Northridge and was the first opportunity for the Bruin threesome to compete in the decathlon.
Casey, who was sixth after the first day of events, finished 7th with a score of 6,211 points. He totaled 2,942 points on the second day of competition, scoring 513 points in the 110m hurdles (18.12), 529 points in the javelin (150-9), 790 points in the pole vault (15-1), 478 points in the discus (100-9) and 632 points in the final event, the 1500m, in a time of 4:47.79. His vault mark of 15-1 equaled his season-best mark.
Scott scored 2,852 points on the second day of competition to finish 9th with a total score of 5,984 points. In the 110m hurdles he picked up 660 points (16.66). He added 580 points in the discus (117-5), 645 points in the pole vault (13-5.25), 443 points in the javelin (131-5) and 524 points in the 1500m (5:06.37).
Drbal was 10th with a total score of 5,082 points, with a second day point total of 2,167. Drbal ran 16.22 in the high hurdles (708 points). He picked up 408 points in the discus (89-0) and 500 points in the javelin (144-4). He no heighted in the pole vault and gained no points in that event. He ended the day with 551 points in the 1500m, running 5:06.37.
A large group of athletes will compete in the Northridge Invitational on Saturday.
