Huskies In Fourth After Two Rounds At Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Led by the sophomore duo of John Wise and Chris Killmer, Washington men's golf is in fourth place after the first two rounds of the 61st Western Intercollegiate at the Pasatiempo Golf Course, Monday.
The Huskies shot rounds of 1-over 281 and 12-over 292 in the opening day of competition, and will enter Tuesday's final round 11 strokes behind leader Purdue at 13-over 573 overall. The Boilermakers lead the 18-team field at 2-over 562. Long Beach State is in second (4-over 564) and Fresno State sits in third (6-over 566).
Sophomores Wise and Killmer were the Huskies' top two finishers after the first two rounds, with Wise tied for eighth overall carding scores of even-par 70 and 1-under 69. He is 1-under 139 and is tied with UAB's Garrett Osborn and St. Mary's Joshua Kelley.
Killmer, coming off his first career tournament win for the UW JV team two weeks ago at Washington National Winter Championships, shot 2-under 68 and 4-over 74 on Monday. He is tied for 17th at 2-over 142.
Rounding out Washington's lineup were senior Alex Prugh who is tied for 35th at 5-over 145 (71-74), senior Erik Olson who is tied for 47th at 8-over 148 (72-76) and junior Zach Bixler who is tied for 62nd at 10-over 150 (75-75).
Long Beach State's Brett Lederer leads the field at 7-under 133 (67-66).The 61st Western Intercollegiate wraps up with the final round, Tuesday.
