Women's Rowing Varsity Eight Ranked No. 10 In Preseason Poll

The Trojans' Varsity Eight will start the season as the No. 10 nationally ranked team in the CRCA/USRowing Preseason poll released on Mar. 14, 2007. With 228 points, USC was one of six Pac-10 teams ranked in the top twenty. The highest ranked team out of the Pac is defending national champion Cal at No. 2, receiving 440 points and five first place votes. Washington weighs in at No. 7 with Washington State on their tails at No. 8. Stanford came in at No. 12 and UCLA at No. 17. Oregon State also received enough votes to finish with six points in the poll.
Aside from the collection of teams in the Pac-10, USC will have to face five crews ranked in the preseason top 30. Those squads include No. 18 Harvard-Radcliffe, No. 20 Northeastern, No. 21 Dartmouth College, No. 22 Boston University and No. 28 Columbia.
Princeton's Varsity Eight came in first in the poll with 455 points and twelve first place votes. No. 3 Virginia received seven first place votes and 392 points overall. Rounding out the top five are Yale and Brown.
The Women of Troy will take on the Lady Lions of Loyola-Marymount University on Saturday, Mar. 24 at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, Calif. Races begin at 9:00 a.m.
