Five Women of Troy Receive Pac-10 All-Academic Honors
March 23, 2007
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Five members of the USC women's basketball team have earned Pac-10 All-Academic honors for the 2006-07 season, marking the highest number of Trojans ever to receive All-Academic honors in a season. This is the third straight season that USC has placed at least two players on Pac-10 All-Academic lists. The 2006-07 honorees out of Troy are: Nicole Berberet, Jamie Hagiya, Allison Jaskowiak, Simone Jelks and Chloe Kerr.
Allison Jaskowiak (3.62 GPA, English literature and language major) appears on the All-Academic Second Team for the second straight year, standing out as the first Trojan to receive back-to-back first or second team honors since Tammy Story, a three-time first team selection from 1990-1992. Jaskowiak's Second Team honor last year as a junior was the first appearance by a Trojan on the first or second All-Academic team since Carmen Krause's second-team honor in 2002.
This year, Jaskowiak is joined by two first-time selections to the All-Academic Second Team. After receiving honorable mention the past two seasons, senior Jamie Hagiya (3.50, Communications) earns her first Second Team selection, and walk-on junior Nicole Berberet (3.70, Social Science, emphasis in Psychology) also appears on the Second Team.
This is the third straight Honorable Mention selection for senior Chloe Kerr (3.20, Communications and political science) and the second straight for Simone Jelks (3.40, health promotion and disease prevention/Spanish minor).
All-Academic honors are awarded to starters or significant contributors on Pac-10 teams who hold at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
