Arizona State's Brett Wallace and Washington's Nick Hagadone Earn Pac-10 Baseball Weekly Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE sophomore first baseman Brett Wallace has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week and WASHINGTON junior left-handed pitcher Nick Hagadone has been named Pitcher of the Week for March 20-26, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Wallace, of Sonoma, Calif., led the offensive attack for ASU as the Sun Devils took two-of-three in their Conference opening series against No. 19 USC. Wallace went 7-for-12 (.583) over the weekend with three home runs, six runs scored and four walks while hitting in the leadoff spot over the weekend, raising his average 14 points. The sophomore hit two homers in the final game of the series, marking his second two-homer game of the season. His 10 homers this season are more than anyone on the team had last season. Wallace, the Pac-10 leader in most offensive categories, is hitting .466 with 10 homers and 40 RBI so far this year.

Hagadone, from Sumner, Wash., pitched in three games last week, combining for two wins and a save. Against Portland, he threw three innings giving up just one hit, while striking out three to get the win. His outstanding play carried into the Huskies match up against their cross-state rivals, Washington State. In the first game against the Cougars, Hagadone pitched 2.2 perfect innings with four strikeouts for the victory in an 11-inning Washington win. During the final game of the series, he earned the save with 2.0 innings of work during which he allowed two hits and one unearned run. For the week, he went 2-0 with a save, throwing a total of 7.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out nine.

The Player of the Week honor is the first of Wallace's career, while it is the 81st such honor for Arizona State. The Pitcher of the Week honor is also the first for Hagadone and marks the 39th selection all-time for Washington.
