March 27, 2007
NEW YORK CITY -- Washington senior guard Cameo Hicks has been invited to take part in the WNBA's Pre-Draft Camp at Cleveland State University, March 30-31.
The camp offers coaches and general managers from all 13 WNBA teams an opportunity to evaluate the top young players in advance of the 2007 WNBA Draft presented by adidas, set to take place in Cleveland on Wednesday, April 4, at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. ESPN2 will provide exclusive first round coverage of the Draft with continued coverage of the second and third rounds on ESPNU and NBA TV.
Hicks was named to the All-Pac-10 team for the second-straight time this season. In her senior campaign, she led Washington to its third NCAA Tournament berth in five years and finished averaging team-highs in scoring (17.2 ppg) and rebounding (5.2 rpg). Hicks was a preseason candidate this year for both the Wooden Award and the Naismith Trophy. She was a two-time Pac-10 Player of the Week and tallied 29 double-figure scoring efforts in 31 games - including a 20-game streak in which she averaged 18.8 points.
Hicks finished her career ranked 11th on Washington's all-time scoring list with 1,472 points. She also ranks seventh all-time in free-throws made (288), free-throws attempted (399) and 3-point field goal percentage (.367). Hicks is currently in her second year as president of the Washington Student-Athlete Advisory Council (WSAAC).
The list of invitees to the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp includes Pac-10 players Shay Murphy (USC), Kristin Newlin (Stanford), Noelle Quinn (UCLA), Brooke Smith (Stanford) and Emily Westerberg (Arizona State).
In addition to the WNBA's Pre-Draft Camp on March 30-31 and Draft on April 4, Cleveland will host the NCAA Women's Final Four on April 1 and 3 at the Quicken Loans Center as well as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association National Convention.
